OCEANERA-NET COFUND: Pre-launch of Joint Call 2017

This is a pre-launch announcement for the new OCEANERA-NET COFUND joint call for ocean (marine) energy demonstration projects, which is expected to open on 20th March 2017.

A 17 million Euro fund has been created through the new OCEANERA-NET COFUND project, led by Scottish Enterprise with a consortium of agencies from Spain, the Basque Country (Spain), Brittany (France), Pays de la Loire (France), Sweden and Ireland, with funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Programme.

The Cofunded Joint Call 2017 will provide funding to companies and research organisations to deliver collaborative projects to demonstrate and validate ocean energy technologies.

Funding in Scotland will be used to support wave and tidal stream technologies.

The approximate funding available for Scottish organisations is £5.2 million (6 million Euro). This includes funding from the Scottish Government and anticipated top-up from the European Commission. Funding is available across Scotland. Companies registered and operating in Scotland can apply; Scottish research organisations must be working with a Scottish company to qualify for funding.

Projects should be industry led, must involve a minimum of 2 independent organisations from 2 different countries, involve demonstration and be completed within 3 years. To be eligible for funding, partners must be operating in one of the countries / regions providing funding for the call. Partners from other countries or regions may participate in projects, but must provide their own funding.

This will be a two Stage call, with the deadline for Stage 1 on 26th May and selection of projects by the end of 2017.

The draft call topics are as follows:

  1. Ocean Energy Devices
  2. Components and Subsystems
