The Highlands and Islands of Scotland is a geographically diverse region approximately the size of Belgium.

Forming the northern half of Scotland, the Highlands and Islands is home to more than 435,000 people with strong cultural and historical roots. Inverness, the capital of the Highlands and Islands, is a thriving modern city, home to over 55,000 people and a focus for administration, culture and transport.

The region is well connected by road, rail, air and sea, with the hub airport at Inverness offering easy access to major UK airports and a gateway to Europe. Broadband communications are also widely available throughout the Highlands and Islands, readily providing high speed data connections for business.
