| 21 December 2007 The Professional Development Award (PDA) in Renewable Energy Systems has been developed by Lews Castle College to provide knowledge and understanding of current and future trends in energy production, sustainability and energy conservation issues and the role that renewable energy technologies may play in meeting energy demands and in limiting global environmental damage. The PDA also covers a broad knowledge of the physics and engineering of many renewable energy technologies so that accurate valid comparisons can be made between different renewable energy technologies when solving energy-related problems. The core units of the innovative new course are available on-line from the 25th of January, so it is accessible from home, from work, from a learning certre - anywhere! The course starts in January 2008 and is made up of the following SQA Higher National units at SCQF level 8:
