Culbokie picked for new bins trial
06 December 2007

Volunteers are being sought from a community in the Black Isle to try out new waste bin collections.

Highland Council hopes 100 households will take part in the trial which will see non-recyclable rubbish uplifted every two weeks.

The scheme will involve three wheeled bins - coloured brown, blue and red.

Garden and food waste will be emptied weekly, while paper, cans, plastic drinks bottles and cardboard and other rubbish will be collected fortnightly.

The trial will run from January to July 2008.

The council said Culbokie was chosen because it was close to a specialist composter at Evanton - the only one in the Highlands - and the current lack of kerbside recycling service in the village.
