Energy Saving Steps
26 October 2006

Energy Efficiency Week (25-31 October) the government backed initiative run by the Energy Saving Trust is now in its 8th year and aims to raise awareness of the damaging effects wasting energy has on our environment.

The week is dedicated to informing us how we can not only help the environment, but make our homes warmer and have money in the process. The more energy we use, the more carbon dioxide is produced and this gas is the major contributor to climate change today.

The UK has come up top in a European Energy Wasters' league after a survey of 5000 Europeans. It's down to our habits of leaving appliances on standby, turning up the thermostat rather than reaching for a jumper.

The Energy Saving Trust is appealing to homeowners to save 20 percent of their energy and we have launched a page to highlight some of the obvious actions you can take to save energy, reduce your carbon emissions and cut your fuel bill.

Have a look at our energy efficiency page.
