| 23 October 2006 A NEW magazine aimed at raising public awareness of renewable energy issues will be dropping through letterboxes across the Highlands and Islands next week. Called 'Let's Talk Renewables' and commissioned by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), the publication aims to provide information about renewable energy and the types of schemes that are currently being explored in the region. In an easy-to-read eight-page format, the magazine is aimed at all ages and features facts, real-life examples, photographs, tips, and - for children - a cartoon team of superheroes called 'The Renewables'. Elaine Hanton, head of renewable energy at HIE explained: "Whatever views people have on individual schemes, renewable energy is recognised worldwide as providing a vital contribution to the future of our planet. The geography of the Highlands and Islands is naturally suited to many renewable schemes, but it is essential that people living here feel they are sufficiently informed to make choices about developments as they progress. "We hope this magazine will provide some answers to the questions people may have about renewable energy and indicate where further information can be obtained. The magazine also features short articles on hydrogen fuel cells, bio-energy, solar, wave and hydro power ". To download a copy of the 'Let's Talk Renewables' magazine, please click here.
