The Highlands and Islands Community Energy Company (HICEC), a subsidiary of HIE, is offering a student an exciting fixed term industrial placement of up to 51 weeks (preferably September start), who will be responsible for developing a specific area of HICEC’s work – an effective project monitoring and aftercare process.
The placement will involve a review of all renewable energy projects completed so far, in terms of their technical operation as well as ‘softer’ issues to do with how a community group has managed the project and resolved any difficulties that have arisen. Part of this will involve quantifying actual energy, cost and carbon savings and ensuring that systems are in place to monitor future performance.
The successful candidate is likely to be an engineering, business, environment or community development studies student wishing to gain some relevant work experience. Essential qualities include experience in project analysis and development, good interpersonal and presentation skills. Travel in the Highlands and Islands is essential to this placement. The salary will be £10,883 (pro rata).
Note: Postgraduate students will be expected to undertake this placement as part of a continuing course of study.
